The past two weeks, TutorYou has been in the UK attending not only the UCAS International Teachers’ and Advisers’ Conference and UCAS Inspiring Choices and Progression to HE Conference, but also making a number of university visits.
We left the UCAS International Teachers’ and Advisers’ Conference in Manchester and split into two teams. One team travelled North to begin on Wednesday 6th by attending the Teachers’ and Career Advisers’ Conference at the University of York. A great day learning all about the University and meeting professors and staff as well as current students. Including a tour of their amazing Engineering department, with courses in Mechanical, Geomatics, Computer, Civil and Electrical Engineering, to name just some!
Thursday we started to head South down the country and visited the University of Leeds! A vibrant city with plenty to offer its’ students. Leeds also has fantastic Engineering courses, as well as being ranked highly for languages and linguistics.
On Friday we made our way to Sheffield to visit the University of Sheffield, another high ranking university for engineering courses. Then we went down to visit our partner the University of Derby and see some art work from their fantastic graduates degree show, before taking the weekend to enjoy the British sunshine!
We then set off the second week by heading to the medieval city of Norwich to visit our partner university the University of East Anglia. UEA is well know for it’s creative writing courses and also offers medicine and is ranked highly for its’ nursing courses.
Tuesday was a packed day of visiting more of our partner universities, beginning in Colchester at the University of Essex with the afternoon at the Chelmsford Campus of Anglia Ruskin University. The University of Essex does very well in linguistic and language courses as well as sports science, while Anglia Ruskin University offers popular nursing courses and has some great accounting and finance facilities.
Wednesday we went to London to visit our friends at City University of London and have a look around the University and the famous CASS Business School, which offers great facilities in a central London location.
Meanwhile, the other half of the TutorYou team had headed straight to London to visit University of the Arts London. Beginning by visiting the wonderful Chelsea College of Arts before making their way over to also visit Central Saint Martins College. Chelsea College of Arts has some wonderful undergraduate courses such as: Fine Art, Graphic Design Communication, Interior Design, Interior and Spatial Design and Textile Design.
At Central Saint Martins, there are some fantastic foundation courses on offer including Fine Art, Fashion Folio and Graphic Design Portfolio, helping to prepare students for their progression into Higher Education courses in these creative fields.
The team then went to visit the wonderful SOAS University of London, who we are extremely pleased to have begun collaborating with and we look forward to supporting them and building a strong working relationship! SOAS is the only Higher Education Institution in Europe, specialising in the study of Asia, Africa and the Near and Middle East.
What a busy but wonderful two weeks for TutorYou! Thank you to all our partner universities for showing us around and thank you to the University of York, University of Leeds, University of Sheffield and University of the Arts London for welcoming us. We look forward to working further with you all in the future!
