TutorYou at The University of Surrey Agent Conference
This month, TutorYou was excited to have been invited to beautiful Surrey for The University of Surrey 7th Annual Agents Conference!
Agent Conferences, or familiarisation events, are really important for us as they provide a fantastic opportunity to see all the great facilities the university has, as well as learn about all the courses on offer for our students! It also means that when we are supporting students in making decisions about where to apply to study and what the universities are like, we really know what we are talking about!
Each day we were introduced to a different Faculty within the university, which was great to understand the scope of the courses available to students.
We began on the first day by visiting the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences.
We learnt about the universities new courses including a MSc in Batteries, Fuel Cells and Energy Source Systems.
We visited the Chemical Engineering Plant and toured the Mechanical Engineering centre, took a tour of the campus with student ambassadors and meet with academic staff from across the department.
We finished the day with a walking tour of Guildford, which was a lovely opportunity to see what the town has to offer our students – lots of great shopping and restaurants!
On the second day of the conference, we learnt all about the Faculty of Health and Medical Science. We started by a visit to the School of Veterinary Medicine, where we got to try out a few clinical exercises!
In the afternoon we visited the Psyhology department, followed by Biosciences & Food and Nutrition. Surrey has some great courses to offer and is constantly ranked highly for Food and Nutrition, an ever expanding and exciting sector.
We then took a short drive to visit Newlands Corner, Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. A wonderful peaceful place for students to have on their doorstep, especially if they are keen walkers or runners!
The third full day of the conference was spent with the Faculty of the Arts and Social Sciences. We learnt about what’s on offer at the Surrey Business School, the School of Hospitality & Tourism Management and from Economics.
We took part in a Hotel Management Simulation and also learnt about the Surrey UK/EU foundation course.
We finished the day with a walk from nearby Shere Village to Gomshall Mill! Surrey really is a beautiful place to study!
Our final day in Surrey, was also the university’s open day, which gave us an excellent opportunity to see the university at its’ best, showcasing what it has to offer students from all over the world!
As well as guided tours around campus, an information fair, tours of the accommodation and sports park, there were also subject specific talks. These included English Literature and Creative Writing, Criminology, Automotive Engineering and much more!
Thank you to everyone at The University of Surrey for giving us so much insight and information on this wonderful university! If you would like to apply to study here, then please get in touch with us today!
