TutorYou visits Les Roches and Glion Institute of Higher Education in Montreux, Switzerland

Last week TutorYou headed to Montreux in Switzerland, on the stunning lake Geneva.  This was our base for two days of Regional visits to Les Roches and Glion Institute of Higher Education. On Friday 22nd March we headed up into the Swiss mountains to visit the beautiful village campus of Les Roches Bluche, situated just below the resort of Crans Montana. Both Les Roches and Glion offer a BBA in International Hospitality Business, preparing students to become the best managers and leaders of the hospitality industry. From the very first day of their studies, students wear business suits and are expected to present themselves as professionals. This discipline and structure, helps them to succeed in their goals and to reach their full potential.

The BBA is split into 7 semesters, the first being focused on practical arts and giving the students a strong basis from which to build their knowledge of the hospitality industry. The further semesters include two dedicated to internship opportunities, the first being on an operational level, whilst the second is more management focused. Students also have the possibility to spend a semester  studying abroad and to customize their elective modules based on their imagined career path and chosen academic specialization.

Les Roches is currently ranked #3rd worldwide for Hospitality and Leisure Management (QS World University Rankings by subject 2019) while Glion is currently ranked #4th. Having met with university staff including academic lecturers, members of student affairs and current Bachelor and Master students, it isn’t hard to see why these institutions are considered so highly. Glion also boasts being #2nd in the world for Employer Reputation in Hospitality Management (QS World University Ranking 2018). On Saturday 23rd March, we visited Bulle and Glion campuses of Glion Institute of Higher Education. We were highly impressed by the high standard of the education at Glion and the professionalism of the young students. The Glion campus, where students can complete only their first semester of the BBA program, has breathe taking views across Lake Geneva and features a beautifully renovated restaurant, open also to the public. We were met by an elegantly dressed doorman and served and fed the most delicious food, all by first semester Glion students. Both Les Roches and Glion also have Master, MBA and Summer programs. With multiple campuses and various specialisations, there really is something available for each type of student.
