TutorYou at EAIE
TutorYou continued our stay in Helsinki following ICEF Higher Education for the EAIE 2019 conference entitled “Encompassing all voices” from the 24th to 27th of September.
EAIE (European Association of International Education) is a gathering of universities and people working in Higher Education from all corners of the globe! A main aim of this conference is to bring together universities from all over the world and develop new partnerships between them and opportunities for movement of students between countries and institutions. Whether this be through the Erasmus programme or student exchange programmes.
For us at TutorYou, it was a great opportunity to hear about some concerns and issues in Higher Education at the moment as well as connect with some of our partners and learn about different options for our students.
We started the conference on September 24th by a campus visit to the University of Helsinki, a leader in science and maths research. It was great to learn about what Finnish Higher Education encompasses and see the different faculties of this University.
Then on the 25th September the main exhibition hall opened at the Messukeskus Exhibition Centre in Helsinki. This was a great opportunity to walk around and gather information and meet with colleagues.
EAIE also put on a fantastic selection of plenary sessions, seminars, workshops, campfire sessions, poster sessions as well as Mindfulness sessions, yoga and running! The sessions we attended ranged from recruitment strategies using Virtual Reality to Brexit updates and how this will affect student mobility!
Of courses we also had the chance to chat with some of our partner universities, as well as learn about challenging summer schools for pre university students!
We headed home with some great new contacts from across the globe and full of inspiration and ideas for our student recruitment!
